The Indianapolis speedway is home to the most famous racecar race in the entire world, the Indianapolis 500. It is next to impossible to call yourself a racing fan without enjoying the race each year. Some 400,000 attend the race each year, and if you’re crazy enough to try and join them, go ahead. The best time to go to the track, if you’re not interested in seeing the race for yourself, is during the offseason months. Going during the offseason will let you see everything the track has to offer without having to fight your way through the massive crowds that always seem to plague the attraction.
With all of that in mind, a visit to the track is a pretty cool experience. It all really depends on whether or not you’re a racing fan to determine whether or not you’ll have a good time. The track itself isn’t much fun to take a look at from the side lines, which is why a bus drive around the track is offered. After the bus you’re allowed to go into the museum to see all of the racing history of the place, including all of the Indianapolis 500 winners through history. In my humble opinion, the place may just be a place to kill a few hours in the afternoon, not a huge family event like Disney World or the like. It’s unfortunate because the race has a rich history of culture and skill.
